Shi Fu Miz Festival started in 2016 and is a music and art project created by the Hong Kong based creative agency: FuFu and the music collective La Mamie's from France, in order to offer modern and original cultural activities in Hong Kong.
On October 26th & 27th 2019, the beloved boutique festival will once again settle its sound system on Cheung Chau, a small island just 30 minutes from the mainland by ferry. There, near the island’s idyllic golden sand beaches, three stages will unfold in the grasses of Sai Yuen Farm. The musical programme once again centres around house and techno and will be sidelined by plenty of dusk till dawn activities like yoga, workshops, tattoos, street art and martial arts.
Shi Fu Miz also welcomes a collab with Boiler Room, showcasing local/regional acts instead of the festival’s international headliners.
This year it's taken a pact in creating a sustainable festival, they're aiming to be entirely zero-waste this year, or close to as possible, and need the support of the community to make this happen!
"We’re really proud to announce that we will strive to be the first zero-waste music festival in Hong Kong. This has not been an easy journey and every day we are endeavouring to solve new challenges in order to achieve our goal, but we’re confident that this year we’re very close to where we want to be."
That said, they have an entire stage that’s run on solar and bike energy by Solar Sound System who are known for their sustainable and mobile sound systems, along with a ban on single use plastic, wood tokens for onsite payment, biodegradable trash bags and food waste will be collected, composted on Cheung Chau island, and turned into fertiliser for the farm.
“This year, we are working together with Green Is The New Black, a lifestyle media platform that specialised in making sustainability the norm and we’re focusing on three pillars: waste, inspiration and menu.”
