Interview: AKU ASH

One of Kuala Lumpur's top Hip Hop DJs, Aku Ash is an experience to be had. Having released music with top music artiste such as Sean Kingston and Kilafairy, Aku Ash is not someone you want to miss. Aku Ash will be playing at Bar Rouge in Singapore on the 22nd of March!

In the mean time we sit with the man himself to ask him some questions.

ADM: Could you tell us a little about your history and how you got started as a DJ?

AA: I picked up DJing in the early 2000s' as a part time gig when I was in university. Started off by playing Old school hip hop, R&B and most major genres you can find in clubs, but Hip Hop has always made the largest impression on me.

ADM: How would you describe the DJ Scene in KL?

AA: Fresh! There's a whole new generation of clubbers. It just keeps evolving!

ADM: Could you tell us how you ended up working with the Bangkok Invaders?

AA: Linked up with the Bangkok Invaders because we had similar goals and wanted to build a network of like-minded DJs inside and outside our region.

ADM: Following that, could you share more about your release with Sean Kingston and Kilafairy "Put The Word In" and how did you end up working with Sean Kingston?

AA: I had been meaning to release music of my own and I needed someone to get on this dancehall beat I had produced. Sean Kingston would have been the perfect match for the tune. So when he was touring around Southeast Asia, it was the perfect time to see if I could get him on the track. Sent him the tune and pheww... he liked it and was down to record! Long story short.. PTWI was born!

ADM: Is there anything you'd like to say for those who are coming in to watch you at Bar Rouge on 22nd March?

AA: Don't watch me.. DANCE! Haha…
