Not many people can say that they've seen history made from Day 1. Jeremy Boon however is one of them. Having been with Zouk since the beginning, Jeremy Boon is a well-respected name in the industry. With over 20 years of experience, he has seen the evolution of what Zouk started as to the titan it is today.
We sit with him to ask him to lend us some insights on the journey of how Zouk got to where it is today.
ADM: Could you tell us a little bit about the beginning's of Zouk in Singapore and how the scene was like back then?
JB: Back then, there were a lot of Top 40 clubs in Singapore. However, there were no clubs that were the equivalent of those in Europe in terms of music direction and clubbing experience.
ADM: What would you say is similar between the Zouk back then and now?
JB: Our motto remains the same, "One World, One Music, One Tribe, One Dance."
ADM: Seeing the transition of music from the Jiak Kim era to when Zouk became the number 3 club in the world, how has the Zouk Experience changed from the 90's till today?
JB: Educating the crowd on the latest trends of electronic music remains important. We still book the latest international DJs as well as cutting-edge electronic artistes.
ADM: What do you hope to see for the future of the music in Zouk?
JB: We are constantly evolving with music trends every year. To support the niche scene and upcoming artists, we are constantly on the lookout for new talents, in line with the clubbing philosophy that was established when Zouk first begun.
